Welcome
A Message from the Eighth Triennial World Hap Ki Do Championships Executive Director, Hee Kwan Lee
First, allow me to convey to all that I am most honored to host the Eighth Triennial World Hap Ki Do Championships. This is an historic event and it is with deepest humility and gratitude that I accepted the International Hap Ki Do Federation’s request to do so.
Unity among Hap Ki Do practitioners is the ultimate focal point of this event. It is my personal goal that all Hap Ki Do martial artists from every association and federation around the world will feel welcome to travel to Battle Creek, Michigan, USA, to showcase their skills. It is in this spirit of unity and respect that these Championships will embody the epitome of our greatest values. Respect, honor, and humility will be our maxim as we demonstrate our martial art at its first major gathering outside the Korean peninsula. In this contest, we are all one family and surely, the global success of our martial art depends on this solidarity. Through our concentrated efforts, Hap Ki Do will continue to display its great relevance in the martial arts community and will become a truly worldwide phenomenon.
My most gracious thanks are due to all who are lending their time and expertise to help make this event a success. I look forward to seeing all of you in Battle Creek, Michigan, USA, in 2010!

A Message from International Hap Ki Do Federation Chairman, Hong Kee Lee
First and foremost, I would like to thank everyone who has helped to make the Eighth Triennial World Hap Ki Do Championships a success! Your time and dedication are truly instrumental in this great historic undertaking!
As you know, the martial art of Hap Ki Do has been part of Korean culture since the Han Dynasty. It is endowed with traditional spirit and wisdom and throughout the years, its practitioners have been examples of loyalty and courtesy - two philosophies that are the true essence of the martial arts. Now, as we gather for the first time in the United States of America, we will take this great opportunity to promote Hap Ki Do to the rest of the world!
It is because of events like this that Hap Ki Do has continuously grown as an international phenomenon. These Championships would not be possible without the harmony and unity of our international Hap Ki Do family and it is only through our continued association that Hap Ki Do will become a worldwide martial art.
As Chairman of the International Hap Ki Do Federation, and on behalf of our Board of Directors, I would like to invite you to participate in the Eighth Triennial World Hap Ki Do Championships. We look forward to seeing you in 2010 in Battle Creek, Michigan, United States of America!
- Hong Kee Lee, Chairman
A message from International Hap Ki Do Federation President, Sung Kwang Myung
The International Hap Ki Do Federation is proud to have the Eighth Triennial World Hap Ki Do Championships taking place in the United States, for the first time ever. These Championships will be the grounds of humility and respect, where all participants may demonstrate their martial arts abilities, their patience and respect for one another, and the spiritual discipline that is paramount in our martial art.
It is due to our strong international Hap Ki Do, Han Ki Do, and Han Kum Do communities that this great event is possible. It is essential to our success that we continue to move forward as one family, united by our common interest of promoting Hap Ki Do, Han Ki Do, and Han Kum Do worldwide. We have made much progress in this endeavor and this is to be celebrated, however I urge you not to be satisfied, but to push onward until they are considered to be the highest order of martial arts in the world.
It is with great pleasure that I, along with all the members of the International Hap Ki Do Federation, invite all students and Master Instructors of Hap Ki Do, Han Ki Do, and Han Kum Do to unite at this historic international event! My sincerest thanks go out to all organizers and participants of these Championships and I look forward to seeing you in 2010 in Battle Creek, Michigan, United States of America!
